Hi guys, So lockdown has proven to be tough on some people.. So I thought I’d share some tips to try and help deal with stress in these times. You see ... ANXIETY.... It is all about accepting things as they are, and not wishing them to be as you want them to be. If we can’t accept the reality of a situation and want to try and change it, or argue it all of the time, this can bring on discontentment, and frustration, leading to negative feelings and sometimes even anxiety or depression. I am talking of circumstances that we can do nothing about, and the coronavirus lockdown is one of these instances, where for our own good, we need to do what we don't want to do, and we mostly don’t want to accept the reality and seriousness of this virus on the economy and our worlds as we know them. Hence, instead of thinking of different ways of living, and learning a way around working in the lockdown, a lot of people find themselves scared, lonely and anxious or depressed. STRESS - It is not your circumstances that make you stressed it is how you respond to them. Take two drivers, the first driver gets angry at other drivers, frustrated by the traffic, and angry at the fact that there are potholes. He is very stressed and uptight by the time he reaches his destination, now his cortisol levels are through the roof which are detrimental to his immune system and health. The second driver notices someone try to cut him up, but wonders where that driver’s mind is, and what he is thinking about or going through today. He acknoweldges the road is bad and puts his energy into avoiding the potholes, and he knew the traffic would be heavy so has left an extra 1/4 hr for his travel time. This driver is calm when he reaches the other end, and has been more mindful of other’s situations. His cortisol levels have not been raise and is in good health! You see ... it is how we react to the situation that causes the stress levels and not the incident itself. A + B = C where A is the incident, B is you and your reaction, and C is your stress level So how do we manage our emotions and react differently?? We need to train ourselves to think LATERALLY... There is generally more than one answer to a question, more than one solution to a problem, more than one way of fixing something. When you have recalled how to fix something, react to something, but that doesn’t work, then think again and find another solution! Be open, be flexible in your mind, and realise that a creative mind is not about being a genius, it is about learning to relax and open the mind to different ways and ideas...... Emma x |

The time is here again where we all stress and struggle with deciding what to buy for our loved ones. We want to make them feel special, and put some thought into the presents, we don’t want to spend too much, but the shops are full of such lovely presents that we want to buy everything..... aarrrggghhhh!
Why not pop a small hamper together with individual items appropriate to the person it is designed for? Leave out the “Tat” that gets put in a drawer and never used, and get them their favourite coffee, jam, chocolate, socks, smellies etc I have put together a number of small hampers for him, for her, for chilrden. In each of these is just one item of Forever Living Aloe product. A soap or a toothpaste, a little pure botanical element to each parcel. These were easy, not too expensive, and a nice treat for someone special... If you would like more info and to purchase one of these then get in touch with me asap before they disappear :-) Www.makeuplocker.com Makeuplocker@gmail.com 07760 223629
Do you need to use Primer?
Which primer should you use? Is silicon best? So many questions, and so many brands! Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhh!!! In my experience, foundation sits and stays far better over a primer. A primer smoothes the appearance of fine lines and open pores, and as it name implies, primes the skin ready creating the perfect base for a foundation. So which one? This is something you may need to play around with to see what works best on your particular skin, but I will try and point you in the right direction. I have real combination skin, oily T zone with open pores so I need a really good primer to stop my foundations walking off my nose and chin. Particular favourites in the highstreet world of makeup are such as MAC Prep and Prime and Benefit Porefessional.. then there are the more pro brands such as Skindanavia Skin Primer and KryolanHD micro primer. These are all amazing primers....But for me, none of these come close to the Illamasqua range of primers. I think these are the worlds best kept secret in the primer field !! The picture attached shows Illamasqua under the right hand side of the face as you look at it, no filtering, and a very quick and unprofessional application of foundation. But after only half an hour you can see the difference between the two sides of the face. Contact me for more details, but this product is definitely worth a try! Why do we think that a makeover, or a hair and makeup session is only for a special occasion? Are we not worth it? Don’t we deserve a little me time trying to hold down a job, bring up children, look after the house and family? We do so much for others, and feel guilty if we look after ourselves don’t we? But what about us, I personally love a pamper and my partner is more than happy for me to indulge myself for which I am extremely grateful, so that I do not have to feel guilty (although secretly I still do...).
If you feel you need to revive yourself a little, why not come in and have a makeover. I also currently have an offer on where you receive a free photoshoot and framed print worth £175 with Fulton Studios in Blackwood, if you wanted to make the most of your makeup! Do it.... have some me time... xx |
