Why don’t we let our hair down at halloween? Too Old? Is that how we feel?
Or do we hold ourselves back for fear of other’s responses and recriminations? ... Yes probably....
It seems as we grow older we become more bar humbug about the Halloween traditions, well I have anyway.
I used to go out dressed up with my friends, carve pumpkins, play harmless tricks on unsuspecting grumpy adults...
But now, I am that grumpy adult, getting frustrated that I can’t eat my dinner in peace for knocks at the door.....
Hmmmm I think it’s time I loosened up a little!!!!
So this year I will be making sure I have my bowl of treats, and a face full of scariness ready or my visitors...
Come on people, let’s enjoy an excuse for a get together or a party...an excuse to be social and have a giggle with our besties.
Do you need to use Primer?
Which primer should you use?
Is silicon best?
So many questions, and so many brands!
In my experience, foundation sits and stays far better over a primer. A primer smoothes the appearance of fine lines and open pores, and as it name implies, primes the skin ready creating the perfect base for a foundation.
So which one? This is something you may need to play around with to see what works best on your particular skin, but I will try and point you in the right direction.
I have real combination skin, oily T zone with open pores so I need a really good primer to stop my foundations walking off my nose and chin.
Particular favourites in the highstreet world of makeup are such as MAC Prep and Prime and Benefit Porefessional.. then there are the more pro brands such as Skindanavia Skin Primer and KryolanHD micro primer.
These are all amazing primers....But for me, none of these come close to the Illamasqua range of primers. I think these are the worlds best kept secret in the primer field !!
The picture attached shows Illamasqua under the right hand side of the face as you look at it, no filtering, and a very quick and unprofessional application of foundation. But after only half an hour you can see the difference between the two sides of the face.
Contact me for more details, but this product is definitely worth a try! Xx

Why do we think that a makeover, or a hair and makeup session is only for a special occasion? Are we not worth it? Don’t we deserve a little me time trying to hold down a job, bring up children, look after the house and family? We do so much for others, and feel guilty if we look after ourselves don’t we? But what about us, I personally love a pamper and my partner is more than happy for me to indulge myself for which I am extremely grateful, so that I do not have to feel guilty (although secretly I still do...).
If you feel you need to revive yourself a little, why not come in and have a makeover. I also currently have an offer on where you receive a free photoshoot and framed print worth £175 with Fulton Studios in Blackwood, if you wanted to make the most of your makeup! Do it.... have some me time... xx
Hi, I’m Emma of Makeup Locker and here is a little about me. I have been doing makeup for many years and have seen fashions come and go. What does not change is that if you are a bride you want to look back at your pictures and still be elegant and classic in 10, 20 years time.
I believe in real makeup for real people, meaning that I do not want all my clients walking out of my salon looking the same. I listen to my clients and blend my knowledge and skills with their expectations to create a look they feel comfortable in.
I use only the best products when doing makeup or Nails as I am all about looking after your natural beauty. Your skin is the base for your makeup, and your makeup will look so much better if we can get your skin right to start.
So I support you in getting your skin care routine right, and moisturising your skin before we start applying the makeup.
With Gel nails I use CALGEL which was developed with the natural nail in mind, so I do not use drills or harsh chemicals, I aim to keep your nail bed intact!
On this blog, I aim to provide you with tips for skin care, makeup, nails and weddings. If you have any questions fire away my lovely people!
Thanks for reading :-)
